Tinamú Birding Nature Reserve / Foundation
The conservation of the nature reserve begins more than 40 years ago thanks to the love for nature of the Londoño Jaramillo family, who allowed the coffee and banana plantations to become a semi-natural forest, supporting their reforestation with the planting of trees natives of the region, which allowed to attract and concentrate a high density of fauna to this oasis surrounded by mountains with fully agricultural crops.
Tinamú Birding is located in Caldas at 18Km. from Manizales (30´) San Peregrino, submerged in the Coffee Cultural Landscape and in a tropical rain forest of 11 Ha. between 1,200 and 1,300 meters above sea level. with a warm climate of 25 ° C, home to more than 260 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, butterflies and a wide variety of plants and trees, a place that since 2014 offers a high-level service in birdwatching resting in comfortable rooms with a beautiful decoration alluding to birds, enjoying the aroma of the coffee, typical Colombian gastronomy and the homey attention of our local community staff, to start observing and photographing birds in lush gardens, bird feeders and walking private paths of 3Km. to appreciate unique forest species and further enrich the great travel experience of nature and bird lovers.
Birdlife biodiversity generated high interest in the ornithological community, which is why it was included in the Plan Alto circle in 2005 to carry out the annual census of Christmas birds led by the Caldense Ornithological Society, also participating in the Global Big Day convened by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology and different activities are carried out to conserve and nature.
