Our history

More than 50 years ago, the Londoño Jaramillo family began transforming their coffee and plantain crops into a semi-natural forest, guided by a deep love for nature. Through reforestation with native trees, they created a sanctuary that today attracts and protects an extraordinary diversity of wildlife—an oasis surrounded by agricultural landscapes.

Tinamú Birding is located in San Peregrino, Caldas, just 18 km (30 minutes) from Manizales, in the heart of the Coffee Cultural Landscape. Surrounded by 11 hectares of tropical forest at an altitude between 1,200 and 1,300 meters above sea level, this reserve enjoys a warm climate of around 25°C and is home to more than 270 bird species, along with mammals, reptiles, butterflies, and a wide variety of plants and trees. Since 2014, Tinamú Birding has welcomed nature lovers with high-quality birdwatching experiences, comfortable rooms decorated with bird-inspired details, the aroma of freshly brewed Colombian coffee, creative cuisine, and the warm hospitality of the local community. Guests can enjoy observing and photographing birds in lush gardens, at feeding stations, and along three kilometers of private forest trails—an unforgettable experience for bird and nature enthusiasts alike.

Roots with the community

Tinamú Birding engages with the local community through environmental education and inclusive initiatives. We open our doors to children and young people from the schools of San Peregrino, offering free visits that promote awareness of environmental care and bird conservation. We also welcome groups of people with disabilities, creating enriching experiences with a strong focus on caring for the natural environment. In addition, we organize talks and lectures with national and international experts to inspire the birdwatching community.
